Obama has taken $450 dollars from PACs McCain 1.3 mil (Check at opensecrets.org for pac breakdowns)
an interesting list here at
http://www.opensecrets.org/pres08/contrib.php?cycle=2008&cid=n00006424 note the Bear Stearns
Merril Lynch type vibe that's going on there.
then Obama
http://www.opensecrets.org/pres08/contrib.php?id=N00009638&cycle2=2008&goButt2.x=9&goButt2.y=7&goButt2=Submit
You'll notice some of the same players but that McCain is weighted slightly to banks/finance.
As far as the tax thing goes I have to assume that you are making more than 250k (none of my biz) as if you are making less than that your tax burden will be less than it is now. Some more detailed analysis on that here
http://taxprof.typepad.com/taxprof_blog/2008/06/comparison-of-t.html
And as for the Muslim thing.. sorry for being a bit jumpy on that. It's my view that religion has no place whatsoever in the process of electing a president and I get a little hinky when it's introduced to the mix I do understand why you said it and I think curiously enough, the first time I ever heard it mentioned was in a discussion with Slea a long long time ago in a galaxy far far away :)
As far as deregulation not having anything to do with the current crisis it is curious to note that both candidates are calling for tighter REGULATION and oversight as a preventative measure for the future.
Anyhoo enough from me.. I know most people are tired of listening to me run my yap about it so I promise this is the last post here from me on this subject.
Adios!
er wait that's a god one
Toodleoo!! :)Chimp Joneshttps://www.blogger.com/profile/08309074017495037632noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-9008362451811455573.post-43008090587344346572008-09-22T20:54:00.000-07:002008-09-22T20:54:00.000-07:00Quite the contrary, Slea. Healthy debate is an important component of free speech, and leads to a few valuable things---reducing differences to a single point, and challenging basic beliefs---both healthy. I assume I'm rather average in intelligence, and people at LEAST as smart as me have an opposite viewpoint. If two people completely agree on everything, you wouldn't need one of the people. One of the strengths of our nation is the two party system, it keeps everything in check. Each party needs passionate people. What I'm hoping is the middle of the road realize, McCain will be better for the liberal issues than Obama will be for the conservative issues.flyingvanhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/07115555161258682091noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-9008362451811455573.post-51501393771816984482008-09-22T19:32:00.000-07:002008-09-22T19:32:00.000-07:00hi van, sorry to bring the fight to your blog...i ...hi van, sorry to bring the fight to your blog...i respect all of my friends opinions and like to hear some good intelligent debating (which is why i linked the post in the first place).

for the record, i completely understood why you said "you don't see a muslim....etc" I didn't need it explained and I doubt Chimp did either (unless he really believes I would associate with a blatant racist which he knows I would not). The same reason you titled the post "racism will keep him..." We KNOW that if he does not win then it will be because of one of two reasons (according to his supporters). 1. because he is black or 2. because hillary didn't do enough to help get him elected.

argh, politics!princess sleahttps://www.blogger.com/profile/15089134046270139411noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-9008362451811455573.post-6441400112300335832008-09-22T13:13:00.000-07:002008-09-22T13:13:00.000-07:00Can't find anywhere that McCain took any money fro...Can't find anywhere that McCain took any money from Fm/Fm. Campaign staffers did in the past, but so far I have only found articles saying he hasn't. Please forward a link if you have one. Also---I understand what you're saying about not bringing up "muslim". It's just like saying, "So---you've NEVER molested children?" Do you really think I just invented a connection between Obama and Islam that has never been talked about? I'm responding to rants against conservatives saying we'd never vote someone other than a white male christian into office. Again, I don't care. Whatever their race, gender, creed, won't affect me. Taxing me more, increasing regulation, taking away incentive for work----THAT's what affects me. I'll always vote for whichever candidate proposes less government interference. If given a chance, the free market will figure it out on its own. So when Obama, or Biden, or Mother Theresa call for more regulation----I'm agaist it.flyingvanhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/07115555161258682091noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-9008362451811455573.post-38867053152487929012008-09-22T10:27:00.000-07:002008-09-22T10:27:00.000-07:00If you "don't see a...muslim" why bring it up? It just undermines what you are saying to include that. he's not a muslim and it has no relevance to the issues at hand even if he were.Chimp Joneshttps://www.blogger.com/profile/08309074017495037632noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-9008362451811455573.post-42075903286005116322008-09-22T09:58:00.000-07:002008-09-22T09:58:00.000-07:00"You, and other democrats that took campaign fundi..."You, and other democrats that took campaign funding from Freddie and Fannie, (McCain didn't get a nickel)"
This is not true. Look at the donor histories from employees of both of those companies and you will see that both candidates ( and others) received donations from all levels. These are easily verifiable . Additionally McCain has taken funding from Merril Lynch and from Lehman Bros.employees.Chimp Joneshttps://www.blogger.com/profile/08309074017495037632noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-9008362451811455573.post-31745485708726959062008-09-22T07:08:00.000-07:002008-09-22T07:08:00.000-07:00i put a link to this on my facebook page, hope you...i put a link to this on my facebook page, hope you don't mind.princess sleahttps://www.blogger.com/profile/15089134046270139411noreply@blogger.com
